My branch of the Dunstan family comprises the ancestors and descendants of John Dunstan, who was Constable of Chester Castle from 1822 to 1865.

This is the start of my new project to get all my family history stuff onto the internet. There's not much to see at the moment, and realistically it's going to take me some time (years) to complete.

In the meantime, you can read some chapters of the book I wrote in 1996. It's not complete - partly because I removed some of it to protect the living, but also because I have boxes full of unpublished material that turned up after I went to print.

You can also browse the family tree that I compiled a few years ago with the help of cousins around the world. I will be updating it as time allows with information sources, photographs etc. Again, details of living persons have been witheld.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions, and come back from time to time to see if I'm making any progress!

In case you're wondering, the chap in the picture is my great grandfather Harry Mainwaring Dunstan. It's his fault that I got into this genealogy lark in the first place, and I blame him for occupying most of my spare time over a period of 25 years. He also left me with the biggest mystery of all - where did he get the Mainwaring name from?
